I'm not giving him a pass for anything. I am saying it is a LIE, to say he was a supreme court judge, and that Trumps said he was unfit for such a role.
Here is an example of a racist supreme court judge that is unfit for the role, appointed by Obama... "In 2001, Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor said that she hopes that Latin and white judges would come to different conclusions in cases.
“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” " What if I said my conclusion was better than hers because I'm white?

You either trust an elected official or you don't.

This judge was not elected, he was appointed by Obama. I'm not saying that is relevant to the case, just that it is relevant to your statement. Either way, I would only trust the law and the system set up. System, being an appeal process, so that not any one person has a final say in the interpretation (ruling) of laws.

Can you not imagine then that EVERYONE EVER in court would argue they couldn't get a fair trial due to a Judge's heritage

This is not the argument, and it is why it is so frustrating when people present it that way, when it was not Trumps argument.
Judges recuse themselves all the time when there is a conflict of interest. And this Judge was part of a lawyer group that advocates for Illegal immigrants, so given Trumps very public stance on LEGAL Immigration, it is obvious that there could be a conflict here. AGAIN, that is NOT racist.
