The science of measuring optical loss is still in its infancy and I think that what we saw back in the day with AZ was in fact the infant, K, maybe a toddler. The inconsistency with the material way back when didn’t help I’m sure. Yup Joe Miller comment with hand on chin, reduce feed back loop. Progress? YES

Metricon sells devices that measure this and they did this testing so once again SMART.

I think it’s great news and sent Z an email congratulating him and no he won’t say anything but thanks and “best” so that’s my 2 cents.

In my mind if you have a material 4 db/cm and the device is 1/2cm long then it is 2 db/cm, I also think the width matters, the smaller the better, but hey I’m a common sense guy , that is how I interpret the President of Metricon says “dramatically exceed the 4 dB/cm industry requirement at 1550 nm”.

Oh and son of gun 1550nm is Single Mode, Yup

Device getting closer! Do Ya think we will still be here when they are available for consumption? Still thinkin Buyout B4 then. But hey what the heck does X know?
