Interesting discussion on Talking Dead about how, had the show been following Negan from the beginning, the TV audience would be rooting for him.
The way I see it, Rick is the bad guy. He, without provocation, attacked Negan's people and killed them all. His talk with Meshown was very similar to that of the Governor, which was, "we will go out and take what we need".
I rooted for Walter White and now I'm rooting for Rick? Not quite so sure about that.
Consider the decisions Rick has made and how many small groups over the years tried to join up with him, and he turned them all away. How many has Rick killed without remorse?
BTW, I don't see Carol as weak. I see her as tired. She didn't beg for the guy not to kill her. She goaded the guy TO kill her. She's tired of all the killing and misery. That's not a weakness, that's an acceptance.
