One nice thing about the propane tank is one does not need to worry about the supply of natural gas being cut off in an emergency situation.



Exactly. Natural gas service can be disrupted but generally not if there's a small area problem. The disaster would have to be quite large. Plus, since we live in town, a very small town, we can't have a large propane tank.
