If you are negotiating for a fiber to make a bullet proof vest you want the best you can get.
You decide to go with MS.
You are ready to make a deal but havent signed yet.
Then they announce DS.

Are you going to continue negotiations for the inferior product or are you going to tell the company you want DS?

If you want DS then the ramping up of MS was for nothing.

Yes i realize that 2 products are better than 1 but to answer your question people keep going back for the iphones because the one they bought last month is obsolete.

They want the better product too.

The difference is they allow the iphone 3 to actually sell before they announce the iphone 4.

If they were about to release the iphone 3 and you were ready to buy but they announced the iphone 4 before you bought would you hold on to your iphone 2 and just wait for the 4 or would you buy the 3 anyways knowing your phone is already outdated the day it arrives?
