Conspicuously missing is any reference to the use of diluents. Zylene, for example, is no longer permitted in U.S. drilling as it was a leading cancer agitator. However, few alternatives exist.

This subject focuses upon the expected paraffin buildup in the wellhead of oil and natural gas wells. This wax-like substance will inhibit the lifting of oil and gas solids, rendering thousands of wells across our land virtually useless.

Without insight as to the OSHA-approved chemical combination comprising some part of this so-called "solution," I'm afraid we're looking at another example of smoke and mirrors.

This is the subject of an exhaustive study I had to perform for an energy company about two years ago at which time Zylene was being removed from the market. I was brought from Houston to the Midland (Texas) area to meet with VP's of Kinder Morgan. I represented a company beginning to manufacture a product whose samples were found promising by that other firm. Our product did not contain any substances found to be dangerous to waterfowl, fish or drinking water.

Environmental sustainability despite dangers of hazardous waste- management risks is a topmost priority. Without such information, no so-called "solutions" will ever move forward. Moreover, it is the absence of dangerous chemicals that will gain earliest approvals.
