Excomike, formic acid gives off less energy per gram (heat of enthalpy) of material and weighs 23 time more than H2! 1 kg of H2 gives of more energy than 23 kg of HCO2H. Formic acid does not provide the power needed for a forklift or car. Per gram hydrogen trumps NaBH4 and HCO2H -- they don't even come close. Formic acid (like coal and all other carbon sources) gives off CO2 -- no too environmentally friendly is it.
