I am a middle roader, not radical by any sense. "Reasonable" is not that difficult to define and discuss if people have the intention to be reasonable. What separate me from many people is I am consistent, at least try very hard to be, don't take one position if it suits me then take opposite position on the same issue if it doesn't suit me.

Someone has to take the lead, and be passionate about it, and willingness to do it. Otherwise, nothing changes really.
