I think "useless" is the last thing a shriners convention is.
And so you think Kim did this only to occupy shareholders. So answer this question.... Where is the PR in July announcing that they entered? Why would Kim enter the contest to occupy the shareholders then wait until he was a finalist to put out the PR?
Are you saying Kim applied in July and KNEW he would be a finalist? Why else would he wait?
And how do you decide what "quite a bit" is? Seems that you are using the same sort of vague statements you accuse Kim of using to convince people of things.
But really.... how much did it occupy the share holders. They had a whole 63 days to wait for results. Look at the posts here in that time. Not a whole lot about the ITMAs.
If you look back at the day the news came out and the days following all you really see is talk about genetic modification. The
GM organisms wont be allowed" argument was the topic at the time. Granted it was the 5th or 6th time we had to listen to stories about GM regulations and how they will kill KBLB but people were not too worked up over an award.
Kim entered and did not know if he would win or even be mentioned. But he knew IF KBLB was to be nominated or win would be great publicity. When the nomination was announced the cost in time or money made him unable to go. He could have sent someone else if time were the issue. But the cost would still be there so IMO it was money and not time.
So for a couple hundred bucks Kim entered and gambled that he would get some publicity.
But when the nomination came it was a matter of the costs of thousands compared to the added publicity of a win.
Not worth the extra costs and a pretty big loss of funds if they lost
I suppose all silver medalists in the Olympics are losers too right?
