Good points, but...

It all comes down to the quality of protection at this point. You can go with "new EMV technology" available on the market that is definitely better than regular pin cards or you can go with premium protection using biometrics. There has been already a lot of issues and flaws with EMV cards:

It will be a matter of time till hackers/thieves come out with a new device to steal data from chip cards.

The thing is that there will be customers that will go with $4 tap-and-pay build in cards and there will be customers who will go with bulletproof technology using biometrics for a small monthly fee. It will depend on customer what quality of protection he/she wants. I think for majority, higher quality of protection with a small monthly fee attached to it will win.
