Could this be a customer choice rather than an Apple election

As we all know, Apple lives and thrives in its own ecosystem. I don't expect them to do anything they can't profit from and control.

The mere fact that the I-phone 6 will be able to send FPs into the cloud at all, is a major step for Apple, they had pretty much said that finger prints were to reside in the device only, just the opposite of BKYI's approach. Score one for BKYI.

Lets fast forward a year or so into a future where FP verification is commonplace. Let's say that I have an Apple phone which I now also use as a credit card. Now, let's also say that I want to make a mobile cash transfer, but my bank insists that they alone will store the verification prints and will make the verification, not Apple. Not an unreasonable demand since the liability will also be theirs.

It seems to me that Apple will be forced to allow others to use their reader to submit that FP data, or force me to buy a different phone.

So, the bad news is that Apple will never play well with others, but the good news is that they scuttled their establish paradigm in favor of BKYI's.
