Could this be a customer choice rather than an Apple election? For example, if I am issued a company cell phone, and my company opts to have a higher level of security, could my prints be registered with a third party (maybe Bio-Key) FOR A FEE to have a greater level of assurance against misuse? An individual smartphone owner may make the same choice, again FOR A FEE. I am just asking and don't pretend to know.
