Car Charging Group, Inc. (CarCharging), incorporated on October 3, 2006, is a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging services. The Company provides turnkey EV charging services to commercial, residential, and municipal property owners. These services enable EV drivers to recharge their EVs where they live, work, and play. CarCharging’s service offerings are designed to accelerate the adoption of public EV charging services. Its complete turnkey service enables property owners to rollout EV charging services on their properties with no capital outlay in return for long-term service contracts. In April 2013, Car Charging Group Inc acquired EV Pass LLC. In May 2013, the Company acquired 350Green LLC.
The Company is the parent company of Car Charging, Inc., which serves as the main operating company and is, in turn, the parent company of several wholly owned subsidiary operating companies. The Company is able to facilitate the purchase of EV charging stations through its wholly owned subsidiary, eCharging Stations, LLC. As of December 31, 2012, CarCharging had more than 60 partnerships across multiple business sectors, including multifamily residential and commercial properties, parking garages, shopping malls, retail centers, and municipalities.
The Company competes with General Electric, Ecotality, and NRG.
