you may be right in saying "mgmt made a foolish and easily avoidable mistake"

they may well have envisioned the vote to be a slam dunk and not needing a big push to accomplish, and they simply were wrong and now look bad

sheet happens

I still don't believe for a single minute your earlier posting,

"Is it possible that the company did not want the vote to pass but wanted the appearance that they did?"
