We are confusing two very different meanings of the word "obligation".

Kim must feel some kind of obligation to shareholders to keep this from hitting triple zeroes...

Yes, this is "obligation" as in "feeling some kind of obligation" ie. an altruistic desire to be nice to shareholders.

This is not an "obligation" as in "legal obligation" or "financial obligation".

These are two very different uses of the same word.
