No actually you are wrong.

Our largest production run ever, which was recently completed, was unsuccessful because of fiber inconsistencies...

The run was a complete success. The MS worms have spun their silk and we have harvested it.

Now since you think 1 bad apple spoils the whole batch here is some info on silk variations.

All silk has variations. All silk has to be sorted by grade.

Kim has told us that we have a way to sort our silk.

See most silk has a quality feature that a client would look for.
In mundane silk it is smoothness, shininess and color. Now please note what sense is used for these features.

Sight and touch.

Can you see how strong silk is? how about feel?

Kim has told us simply that they have a way to sort our silk.

A couple weeks back the rumor was the company was going to go bust because there are inconsistencies. Now we are told they know how to find the inconsistencies and that means that a batch is unsuccessful?

I think your letting you imagination run away with you.
How can finding a way to test consistency ruin a batch?

So no, I do not agree with you. I can not agree with any emotional assessment of the company. I can only agree with logic. Unless you have some logical explanation of how creation of a test makes a batch unsuccessful.
