Well said ZF. The functions of the human cell were once thought to be rather simple, but in the last few decades scientists have begun to discover that it's really quite complex. So complex in fact, that the human cell actually utilizes nano sized biological motors to perform many of the tasks. Check out the link below.

While I'm a firm believer that man, given enough time and resources can do just about anything (check Genesis 11:6), the complexities of silk fiber production will probably take quite some time to figure out, let alone be cost effective.
