If the company is taken private then there should be a premium offered over the current price. Long time holders that bought in at a higher price get burned. Sometimes very large shareholders get to keep a stake in the private company. I don't believe Schott is publicaly traded, at least not on US exchanges so hope for a buyout by Schott wouldn't be good for long time shareholders either.
