Hey Wise,

I believe the advantages that Lightwave has over lithium niobate would be important here as well. Cost and performance would presumably make Lightwave's materials more attractive for modulation.

However, their ability to put the source, modulator and detector on one platform may be important. I can imagine a GaAs/polymer hybrid system that might be interesting.
