Motherboard outside of the case

Big chunky firefighter hands find it hard to move around a mobo once it is inside the case. So we mount everything we can while it is outside.

Intel 775 CPU slot. Can you guess why it is called 775?


That's right. 775 pins. This is called a Zero Insertion Force socket. Meaning the CPU should drop in all the way to the hilt with zero insertion force. Open the latch and raise the cover


OOOOOOHHH BABY!


Line the two edge notches up and drop it in


Close the cover and latch the latch. Notice the large X printed on the motherboard with the holes drilled in the ends? Those holes are for the next step
