And you know me, I used to own a winery and vineyard in Sonoma. I know some secrets and cheats that many wine makers use.
We like Palmes d'Or for our bubbly, but we went with Billicart-Salmon Rose ( name is the names of the husband and wife).
Have you ordered wine online.
Wine Insiders has delivered me some good wines at very reasonable prices.
Frei Brothers Cab. Sav siping it down now Wonderful Cab http://www.freibrothers.com/resources/images/content/wines/cabernet-sauvignon.jpg
Have you checked out nakedwines.com
I got my first case at a very reasonable cost and got it delivered to my local Walgreen store.
Am pretty happy so far.
Don't you hate it when transparent scams turn out to be transparent scams?
I've run into more than a few wine scams over the years, too.
Drinking 2011 'Terraria' super Tuscan.. Sangiovese/Cabernet.. another WTSO purchase... easily 93-94 rating
I'm chrcking out your timelines site
Also, WTSO on their 'bonus' page selling a bolgheri super Tuscan, Mosaico for 29.99. A truly beautiful wine...well worth $30
Yeah, I just took a pretty massive hit on a play that got suspended by sec
Still in the game but perhaps not for long.
At this point, rather buy metals and wait for inflation hysteria to come back
I am moving away from cheap stocks and into established biotechs and pharma, preferably with dividends. When I retired from BD ten years ago shares were in the mid 60s. They are now around 200. I lost all my retirement funds from cheap pie in the sky companies.
Have you seen my Timelines of History site? There is a section on wine: http://timelines.ws/subjects/Wine.HTML
anything else going on, lugan? seeing how I seem to follow one scam after another in the pinky-trading world, i may spend more time here chatting about wine... less financially devastating.
Thanks for the lead.
Keep an eye out for the 2012 I Balzini black label supertuscan on WTSO.com. Sometimes offered on their 'bonus' page. $19.99 a btl, very good price point. Dark fruits, a bit jammy, perfect oak balance, long finish
All things considered... i would probably buy 4 bottles of the yellow label Veuve Cliquot instead of another bottle of cristal.
Drinking 2005 Cristal. Special occasion only, with that one...anniversary
i was in the past, you remember... like 5 years ago? maybe longer/
You are welcome to be moderator.
I switched to beer for the summer... easier on the pocket :)
with the cooler temps coming, i'm thinking about re-sparking my wine interest... of late, been drinking boring whites and craft beers...
look at WTSO.com, bonus offers, I Balzini black label 2012... i've had a lot from these guys, even a magnum here and there... great supertuscan.. this one is a drinker now.
i need 4 more posts to be a mod/ here's one
what's up, lugan... long time no hear from.. Drinking anything good lately? I took a bottle of the Haven's Spring Mt Cabernet from Cinderellawine.com this am. 2013, i believe.
other than that, drinking whites in the heat... looking forward to the colder temps to bust out the cabs and bordeauxs
Have not heard of it. Where is it from and how much per bottle?
Ghost Pines Red Blend had last nite, pretty good
Nice $10 super tuscan on wtso.com.... this one is probably going to go quick.
Nice... i'm not allowed to buy any more wine until I move some of my stock. There is a tempting one on WTSO.com right now, but it already sold out. A $30 bottle for $10.99... had to pass, but at that price it would have been worth a try...
Shopping for Thanksgiving wine I found a reduced price $17 bottle, rated 96 by Robert Parker, of Verum, a 2010 chardonnay from Argentina. May not get to taste it as it is a gift.
Did buy and taste a bottle of Livor, a $7 2009 Tempranillo, from Spain. Very nice with spaghetti and garlic bread.
Merlot was my favorite years ago when I began to recognize quality wines, but it quickly faded as I discovered Cabernets. Warm weather made cold whites very pleasant and soon Sauvignon Blancs took over as my favorite.
Had a nice New Zealand Ferngreen Sauvignon Blanc this evening, $5.99 at Trader Joes.
Still on the low budget wine circuit.
I don't do much merlot unless it's a bordeaux or super tuscan blend... on wtso.com right now is an alexander valley cab (optima) for $18. I've had it, it's pretty decent.. alexander valley often produces cabernets with a certain 'dusty tannin' type characteristic that often displays as soft and sweet (imo).. It used to be my favorite region, but i've since moved away from it.. anyways, the optima may be worth a bottle or two if it's in your price range. Jump on their petite syrah offering if it ever comes about... great values with Petite Syrah.. ( and no, it's not just a small syrah grape, it's a different varietal)
So let us know how the Merlot goes down.
Buying online by the case is still outside my budget this month. I did enjoy a 2009 Castle Rock Cabernet from Paso Robles this evening. Over the years I have found great taste and consistency in both red and white wines from this California region, midway between SF and LA.
there's a merlot from shadowood on WTSO.com right now... haven't had it, but i bought half a case of their cabernet and it was well worth the price.

wtso.com.... it's WinesTilSoldout.com.. an online discount retailer... the offers come right after each other, so you have to move quick on them. Check winesearcher.com to make sure the price is actually a good deal though...
Look at WTSO right now.. that ondarre reserve scored very high, is in the top 100 wines of 2010.. worth a look there.
Trader Joes has a French Pinot Noir, MGM, going for $6.
This is the best Pinot at this price range I have ever tasted. Of course it's not a great Pinot, but real nice with a spicy spaghetti dinner.
Palate watering stuff. A bit beyond my current $6-7/bottle budget.
Hello.
I just came across your board and wine happens to be one of my favorite things.
I haven't had time to read through many posts but here are some results listed by varietal from the Sonoma County Harvest Fair if you are looking for some ideas on what to drink. I would say that the Zins, Chards, Merlots, Syrahs are some of the best from the Dry Creek area and Sonoma Valley. Only Sonoma County Wines were allowed to participate in this judging.
http://www.harvestfair.org/docs/2011WineAwards.pdf
Trader Joes is a good outlet. If you have a Costco in your area that sells wine, they offer good deals too... all things considered, the WTSO.com and Cinderellawine.com offer the best deals around.
I'm trying to finish off some petite syrahs that don't have great aging potentials, and some cabs in the early 2000s that need to go also.
I started this board some time ago and it lapsed for quite some time. Will participate but not actively moderate anything. I did recently enjoy a Grove Mill Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, ~$9. Due to cash flow most of my selections tend to be in the $6 range from Trader Joe.
I've made you assistant of the board!..
Good point... i'm actually pro-rules myself... anyways, drink anything worth mentioning lately?
My wine purchasing has grinded to a halt, I have to move existing supply, it's taking over my house... (lol)
All games have rules.
In order to play legitimately, the rules of the game need to be followed.
I was thinking about this subject earlier today. Very serendipity.
If the rules of a game are not followed, chaos results. This chaos has often been renamed as war.
Well here's one if not two.
Welcome
Go for it!
Hello Fellow Oenophiles!
