Anyone know about the upcoming CLM & CFP merger? I'm trying to get ideas on possible divy payouts.
Fluctuates? You mean steadily declines because the payout is too big. Look at the long term chart during the five year bull market. An S&P 500 index would have performed far better.
This stock is mostly marketed to unsophisticated old geezers who never look beyond the showy dividend.
IMO it's still pays out good from divi. The last time it had a split was a while ago. The price will fluctuate but not as much.
Yuck. The only reason I was interested in this one was for the cheap shares and the $.09 divy. I'm not going to buy this for this price and receive less of a divy for a price that will most likely fall back to 5's
Because if it doesn't produce enough income to pay the
dividend it takes the needed amount out of it's operating
capital. It's sort of a Ponzi scheme and they refresh the
money every now and then with an offering of new shares
and somebody sucks them up to keep it going. I've been
in it for years and have reinvested dividends a few times
on big dips but the interest has kept me close to even
before taxes. Good stock to sell in Dec and buy back in
Jan I suppose.
Horrible. I have watched this stock plummet from 6.10 to where we are now. Chart history shows no indication of hitting bottom anytime soon imo. Why does this fund continue to spiral down?
Who invests in these companies for price appreciation?

There was a RIGHTS OFFERING where existing share holders could buy 1 share for every 3 shares they owned.
The RIGHTS price was $5.34 which was a good deal, so good they had to close the offering because of higher than expected buy in by existing share holders.
This happened in December 2013.
I can find no R/S listed on my Scottrade account.
The fact so many existing share holders snapped up these newly released shares SHOUT LOUD THUMBS UP from existing share holders.

Can you send me link to your board . Opinion on this one ?
I want to get on board but not until second round of distributions declared. I want consistency .
Just have a look see at their holdings
Type in CFP or better yet visit my AOD board (Alpine Total Dynamic Dividend Fund) which discusses the downside of ultra high yield CEFs. There's no free lunch.
Yes, these funds pay huge dividends but at enormous expense to their overall performance.
Where can I find your board .. But there distribution rate is the highest among CEFs
Cornerstone Funds have shown to be awful investments. See my CFP board for much more info on Cornerstone.
We r in a nice uptrend now..
Why is this fund tanking so hard..
Thanks Wildride, added to favorites
