mgland, the possible reverse split sounds very strange to me. If they were to split the stock 1/35 at the current price, it would then be over $16 a share. Our outstanding share total would drop to a little more than 4.5 million. This would be an extremely small float for any company on the N.Y.S.E. especially a financial one. The only way it would make any sense at all, would be for the company to issue millions of extra shares to raise cash, thus doubling or even tripling the number of outstandng shares on the market. If their plan is to dilute this stock and then reverse split it, it would scare me out as well as many other investors. The next time you speak to the company run this scenario by them. Maybe they will have a different explanation. The way it was presented to you, sounds scary to me. Florida
FBR. Spoke with the company. Name change if approved will occur "a few" days after shareholder meeting. There is currently plus or minus 5 million shares short on this.
Also up at the Shareholder meeting will be a RS voted on. If approved it will be at boards discretion anytime during next year at a range of 1-20 to 1-35.
I'll settle for 26% here. out .53
All the best
Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. Initiates Name Change
2/23/2009 9:00:00 AM--
Name to be changed to Arlington Asset Investment Corporation
ARLINGTON, Va., Feb 23, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. (FBR) ("The Company") announced today that it intends to change its corporate name to Arlington Asset Investment Corporation. The Company will begin doing business under its new name immediately and will seek approval from shareholders to amend its charter to reflect the name change at its next annual shareholders meeting in June 2009. The Company will continue to be led by its existing management team. "We believe this is a logical step for the organization," said Eric Billings, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "The new name more clearly distinguishes the company from FBR Capital Markets (FBCM)." The Company has notified the New York Stock Exchange of the name change. The Company has requested a new ticker from the NYSE and expects to gain approval and begin trading under a new symbol within the next 60 days.
Institutional investors are stepping up. Vanguard is in for over 4.7 million shares, reported 2/3/09, and there are several others with recent buys, including Ohio and Florida State Employees/Retirement Systems.
Hmmmm...very (very) cool.

Perhaps there is more to your sentiment, than you have revealed. I'm watching this one but have yet to invest, so just how glad are you?
I am glad that I didn't dump down around .18... Local outfit to me and know many people who work there.
Nice close at the high of the day. Hey, am I talkin' to myself again?. Hello? FBR closed at $.30! Maybe the shorts are finally getting spooked.
lolol
And now Credit Suisse has increased its position by over 833% to 415,379 shares, reported on 12/29/08.

I've been watchin' the institutional holdings. Some sold out, but several are adding (California Public Retirement; Goldman Sachs increased its position by 594% in mid-November). Brand new positions include Mass Mutual Select and Oppenheimer Funds. Sooner or later...kaboom! (lol)
Best of luck!
;)

Still holding a few here, it will have its day imo. Today was light volume but solid day.
Today's action could be the start of somethin' big. Nice 53% move up today.
;)
Volume light but I bet this thing runs soon, just my opinion! I live near FBR headquarters and think this one could survive.
FBR LOOKS READY TO RUN.....
RESISTANCE @ .33 ...
Yup, close at .14 today what a POS!
Down down down down....
Not the only one watching;) eom
Well I am watching as well. This was the FBR REIT, so I doing DD to see if they might have a chance of rebound. I was buying this for clients a few years ago at $24, 25, 26 bucks a share...
TMA and others that were highly leveraged are going up so there is a chance here. Will be keeping my eye on it!
Any hope here you think . Been watching but not buying yet.
FED buying bad mortgages, FBR owns plenty... Watch for a move imo.
Looking at boardmarks I am one of the only on IHUB watching. Local company should find bottom soon imo!
Heck they have there own golf tournament on PGA Tour lol...
Bought for clients years ago at $28, my what a few years will do.
Financials... ugly. Look at puts (if available) IMO.
