You have to have enough shares in your order to show up on Level 2. There are minimums based on price.
Price from .01 to .10 is 10,000 shares
.11 to .20 is 5,000 shares
.20 to $1 is 2500 shares.......
Not sure of those ranges and prices, but you get the idea.
I used to have a table, but can't find it....same question has come up in our #DDAmanda Room .....

Thanks for the read! But a lot of the links listed are outdated/expired =(
Service in terms of what? Are you looking for a L2 data feed or L2 education?
I am trying to learn level 2. I do not have a paid level 2, however, this site has it free for certain stocks.
http://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/SPCL/quote
I think the stocks that have it free have companies that pay a fee to the site for it. The following is a chart from the site for SPCL which is a very hot sub penny at this time. The reason it has the date instead of the time is because the market is closed now. It is Saturday. I went back to the first post and am now in the process of reading all of your posts to see what I can learn. I hope someone is still here answering questions should I have any. Thanks for this board. It sounds like a great idea. :)

Difference between Level I and Level II
If you start on US Stock Markets you will need to choose which Stock Quotes (Market Data) you will need. Below you will find explanations of all Day Trading Quotes for NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX market that are available for traders.
I’m sure that after this article you will know exactly what is the difference in data on Level I and Level II. That will help you in your start in trading on US Stock Markets.
I.e. NYSE Level I:

It is really up to MMs on what they can show or not for OTC. Nasdaq stocks are straight forward.
What is the reasoning why on think or swim level 2 trades show up twice? This is for all trades. They show up twice on level 2 but in the overall volume are only shown as single. For instance level two shows 500,000 sell followed by another 500,000 but the actual ticker volume comes out at only 500k. I am not sure if this happens for all level 2's or only TOS.
Doesn't happen for all stocks either.
I have the same question. I put in a sell for .0005. On level 2 I see asks for .0004 and .0006 but no .0005's. I asked Scott since that's who I am trading through and they told me as long as my order shows a status of open on their web page then my sell is out there. Is that correct?
Why don't my sell orders show up on L2?
Yes. That 78,214,400 is the combined total of shares on the bid. (BUY) side. There may be 2,3,4 or more Market Makers with a combined total of that many shares at that price on the bid.
As those orders go through, you will see that number decrease. Unless new bid orders are placed.
Hope this helps.

The red the blue the green?
On the level 2 what do the different colors mean?
Hopefully someone sees this and answers my question. I have been trying to understand L2. I've read articles and watched youtube videos but it seems like people say different things about it.
In this example could you tell me what the numbers on the bid side means? 78,214,400 @.0006 x 16,319,800 @.0007
I am assuming that the 16,319,800 on the asked means that there are only that many shares of .0007 left and then they have to move it up to 0008?
But I don't understand what the 78,214,400 on the bid means. Is that how many shares people want to sell or is that how many shares people want to buy?
Thank you to whoever answers my questions!
partial bid fill question. The lead up - I enter into a limit order through TD for 300K shares @ .003 (i know, not much at all)early in the day. I see it on L2.
I get a partial fill later of 36998, then another holder/bid at same price with 900K bumps mine from the top (i knew it was my order because of the very specific amount left) there's filled or at least partially because a couple hundred thousand shares were traded at .003 into that bid, after that point.. the share price moved up from there for the day and i was not filled.----Q. should I have been filled first since my order was not cancelled or replaced and was still open?
Next day, I still have my partial order open to fill. Again, it reaches .003 a few times on this day (the LOD) and a few hundred thousand shares were traded at this .003 but only 47765 of my order filled. Remaining now at 465237 open order.
I am quite upset as this was the bottom and I was sure to have filled on friday (that second day) I was unable to watch L2 that day though, so i don't have a clear picture of activity. But it seems like TD of all platforms should have filled this order.
Q. Should TD have filled this order?
it is still open and I called TD sunday and they informed me that they would file this situation to trade inquiry dept. and that they would call me back. I called today(monday) and was told this dept does not make outgoing calls.....ugh!!! but I called too late, soo...I ask here in the event i get a more objective opinion. Also, this is not the first incident I've had with TD. But I'll save that for another board.. Thank you for the help.
I am seeking a level II service. Does anyone have a recommendation please?
Nope no free burgers today dude!
I have seen on L2 transactions designated as prior, out of sequence, Form t and understand these. Have 2 stocks watching that had the designation of large transaction as "CASH" this past Friday. Have had L2 for years and never seen this before, any ideas what this means on L2?
Level 2 must read link is not showing any pictures, anybody can know where i can find the pics??
If There-Are Too-Many MMs-On-Ask, Flip-The Computer-Monitor :)
VFIN My Fave MM...Weeeeee :)
LOL, Yes-Sometimes, Unless-VFIN-On-Ask Showing Unlimited-Amount-Of Air-Shares :)
JSA, if you would be so kind, a question re: Level 2 >
The shares you see on the bid represent buyers and those on the ask would be sellers. True?
So, a stock that has a lot more shares on the Ask, would be looking like it could fall back because the shares on the ask are available to be bought and shares on the bid are availble to be sold. So a lot more shares on the Ask looking at Level 2 indicates a downward bias, so you should not buy at this point, and wait until the Bid gets stronger with more Market Makers at each level. Right?
Let's say the trend reversed, and there were many more MM's sitting on the Bid than the Ask. This would indicate a much stronger Bid side and that the stock will move up a lot faster on buying than it will down on selling in the short term. Seeing this, I would be more apt to BUY a stock if I was taking a long position. Right?
Many Thanks,
which MM's are most associated with dilutuion? These list are pretty old and I assume are out of date. Thanks

Can anyone direct me to a good free site which has level two OTC BB and pink sheets stock's? I have found a few free the level two siT es but they only show the top five bid and asks which is not very helpful and only three level two for major exchange stocks had not OTC BB. Please and thank you
I see friends have come around here. Going
to post elewhere then sticky this board.
B'marked.
think or swim has free level 2 but td bought them a couple months ago so now the clearling house is different i think. im still trying to decide if its worth it to keep think or swim for free level 2 but having to pay higher trades and shitty borrows when i can use zecco(have an account there but no money at the moment)..zecco has no level 2 but much cheaper trades and very good borrows and if a stock wasnt available to short, they always find it for me when i ask for it, think or swim not only never has good borrows but they will no longer try to locate shares for you. so tos is good in a bull market but if you are expecting a pullback and wanna make some money the other way, tos stinks. personally, unless you are trading pink or ocbbs, level 2 is far less valuable than having a briker with good borrows and cheap trading costs.
what's a website for free level 2 pink sheets?
completly new to Level 2 can someone tell me what I'm looking at lol? whats with the green yellow and pink?
looking for L2 service or program under $50/mo. prefer not to use HTML page but open to suggestions. i cannot get from broker as i don't meet the min requirement$
I was using Quotestream which was ok but $75/mo is a bit pricey for me.
TIA
i have amtd's L2. they are..
..
slow at times, but free, from years back when i used them.
Is it just me or dose the ihub L2 kinda suck?
Where can I get free Level 2? My job just blocked anything Etrade and now I can't use my Market Caster.
nope, but was not hoping to see 200m on the ask. sigh.
No problem, any time. My level II (from Ihub) shows: 2 MMs on the ask @ .0001, 8 trades...all in green (or buying), last trade is a 2 mil. blocks.
super thin after .0002, thin to penny land (CSTI is sitting @ .5002)
Do you need me to look for any other subs beside PPJE right now?
I just PM of one my buddies who have level two service with Etrade or TD or whatever, and is waiting for him to give me the answer...
gail sorry I have ihub ...and it's showing 9.9 mil. trading vol. for PPJE; 2 MMs on the ask...with about 212 mil. shares
can someone with L2 other than ihub or amtd, tell me what you see for ppje? we are having issues with L2 there.

This is a board for Level2 education. I will use the iBox for links to articles, web sites and user posts that are relevant to Level2 education. Please do not discuss stocks on this board except to ask for Level2 specific information about a particular stock or to use a stock as an example for your question. Posts not geared toward the greater good will be deleted. iBox suggestions and links to sites or posts that I can use in the iBox can be sent to me via PM.
There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't know, or are just looking for clarification, just ask.
The Q&A's cover the questions and answers from the board and other information so it will be the first place for newcomers to check for answers. But feel free to expand on anything you find there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Question and Answer section-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
****** Q&A's updated 9/11/07 - added ECN information ******
Q: What is Level 1?
A: A service which displays the real time highest Bid and lowest Ask quotes along with volume and the last days price.
Q: What is Level 2?
A: A service containing Level 1 information plus quotes from all the MM's who are actively trading a stock.
Q: What is Level 3?
A: A service containing Level 2 information plus the ability to enter quotes and send orders to the market. It is a restricted service available only to the MM's. It is the service they use to trade with.
Q: What is a Market Maker or MM?
A: A broker or dealer who holds an inventory of shares for the stocks it handles making a market for those stocks displaying their Bid and Ask prices.
Q: What are the Bib and Ask prices?
A: The Bid is where MM's are holding buy orders at, the Ask is where they are holding sell orders at.
Q: Why do some stocks have a larger spread between the Bid and Ask than others?
A: Larger cap stocks that are more liquid will have a smaller spread than a smaller cap stock that is less liquid. You will generally want to see a smaller spread.
Q: What does the term liquidity mean in the stock market?
A : Liquidity is determined by the volume and the ability to sell a stock quickly. High volume stocks which are easier to trade are considered more liquid.
Q: Why do different MM's show different Bid prices on the same stock?
A: Each MM displays the highest buy orders they are holding. When the MM at the top of the list has filled his orders he will drop of and the next MM in line will be displayed as the current best offer. If a new MM comes in with a higher buy order or a current MM receives a higher buy order, he will go to the top of the list.
Q: Why do different MM's show different Ask prices on the same stock?
A: Each MM displays the lowest sell orders they are holding. When the MM at the top of the list has filled his orders he will drop of and the next MM in line will be displayed as the current best offer. If a new MM comes in with a lower sell order or a current MM receives a lower sell order, he will go to the top of the list.
Q: The Bid and Ask prices are the same? What's going on?
A: Called a Locked Market, where opposing MM's Bid and Ask prices match. There is no advantage for the MM's, it's just a coincidence.
Q: What is a Raw Data / Time and Sales display?
A: A display showing tick by tick each trade that goes through the market. The date, time, price and volume of each trade is displayed along with what the Bid and Ask prices were at that time. This is the data that charts are built from.
Q: While watching Time and Sales, how do you know if a trade was a buy or a sell?
A: A trade at the bid is considered a sell. A trade at the ask is considered a buy. A trade in the middle can go to whichever is closer.
Note: If you are wondering how a trade can go through at a figure outside the current Bid or Ask without the MM list changing is that it happens so quickly there is not enough time for the quote system to react to it but it will show up on a time and sales display.
Q: What is the MM wall or the resistance point on a Level 2 quote?
A: The wall is where one or more MM's are sitting at the same Ask price with large Ask sizes. It usually takes a lot of buying pressure to break through that point. When you see a wall creeping up the Level 2 display during a run it may be a good time to sell.
Q: Why does it mean when someone says the MM's are walking the price down?
A: An MM, investment group or large investor will throw small sells at the bid to drive the price down before accumulating a large amount of shares. They may also drive it down before they cover a short position. Watch for small trades like $5 to $20 at the Bid. There is nothing wrong with the stock, just someone taking the price down to buy cheaper shares.
Q: What MM's do you like to see on the Bid?
A: ABLE, ARCA, BEST, DATA, DOMS, EDGX, EFGI, FRAN, GNET, GNGL, HILL, JEFF, JIMK, MAXM, MURF, NIII, PERT, POND, QUIN, SALI, SCHB, SEAB, STGI, TDCM, TRAC, VERT, VNDM, WDCO
Q: What MM's do you hate to see on the Ask?
A: ACAP, AGIS, ARCA, BAMM, BMIC, BOFA, BRUT, BTRD, CGFL, CHIG, CLYP, ETRD, FANC, GNET, GVRC, HDSN, INCA, ISLD, REDI, JIMK, MAYF, NITE, RBCM, SACM, SBSH, SCHB, SSGI, UBSS, UCAP, VFIN
Q: What are ECN's?
A: ECN, Electronic Communications Network. An automated electronic trading system that allows users to execute trades without going through a Market Maker. Primarily used for Limit orders. It is expensive to use so it is generally used by the big boys or individual investors who do a lot of trading.
Q: Who are the ECN's?
A: ECN list, ARCA, AUTO, BRUT, BTRD, DATA, EDGX, GLBA, GNET, INCA, ISLD, REDI, TRAC. Limit orders are usualy routed to an ECN by your broker. ARCA is the ECN used by Ameritrade. If anyone knows any others please let me know.
