ET62: True. I own WMT and shop there. HOWEVER, Amazon might be the better play because when you pay for the stock, you are buying their cloud business with the retail business thrown in for free. JMO
Gmenfan: If, heaven forbid, the cacklin' hen wins, Republicans should form a huge slush fund, $100's of billions, to bus migrants to Democratic areas, starting with The Hamptons. Even though I live in Maryland, I would love to see tens of thousands of Haitians and Venezuelans arrive in Montgomery County, Maryland and Washington, D.C. (Montgomery County is one of the most liberal places in the U.S. California has nothing on Montogomery County.)
Taos, New Mexico would be another good choice. Austin, Texas for sure. The overflow should be shipped to Beverly Hills and Silicon Valley (the former being Silicone Valley).
al44: Excellent work by the "Bee", as usual.
lj: OT
Things are getting worser and worser in the Middle East. The U.S. is going to send troops, if the Daily Mail is to be believed. And, I wouldn't be surprised is senile Joe doesn't cave and tell Zelenskky it is ok to lob those long-range missles into Russia.
My guess is that Putin would respond with two missles for every one that hits Russian targets.
yieldude: FTCO
So far, so good. Thanks for the alert on the permit approval.
I have been reinvesting dividends for about a year and a half, maybel longer.
My personal price target is $7 (based upon past highs and hope!). Will be hard to sell it given the very high dividend yield.
lj: GRRR and FTCO and VTLE
GRRR: Up about 50 cents today on news about business in Thailand.
FTCO: Last week a poster on the Savvy Trades board opined that FTCO might move up to $6. I added a few shares to my position. For approximately a year and a half, I have been reinvesting the dividends.
VTLE: Kicking myself for not buy more when it was $26 and change.
Potential Cat 3 headed right for Florida. I missed this one; came as a surprise.
War to break out in Chicago thanks to Joe Biden?

lj: If they have shut down foreign media, world public opinion will turn against them.
Uh, oh. "My Pillow" man Mike Lindell is in hot water:

lj: After averaging about $3.30 per gallon for years, as we approach the election, voila, below $3 a gallon. $2.88 is a great optic. If the price were $4 a gallon, the Republicans might sweep Congress.
littlejohn: Oil was up $1 plus change today. I guess the $2.88 gasoline won't last long in this neck of the woods.
lj: Some or many of the drug lords might be Jewish. The President of Mexico is Jewish.
This decision suggests that the Federal judiciary is going down the drain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13865593/Deep-red-state-pay-transgender-baby-murderers-male-female-surgery.html
lj: What I got out of that article is that the Government has its hooks into DeWine, hence the downplaying of the Haitian debacle in Springfield. He stood by while they dumped Haitians in his State? Now it makes sense. Create a tech center and the liberals will flow in. Happened in the "golden triangle" in North Carolina.
lj: Tesla charging stations
I'll answer my own question: "In summary, while Tesla's Supercharging network primarily charges users for electricity consumed or time spent charging, there are exceptions for specific models and promotional offers. Most users should expect to incur fees when using Tesla's charging stations." My takeaway, which may or may not be accurate: The charge is based on the kwH rate in the area where a vehicle is being charged. If that is not possible, the charging fee is based upon the time it takes. Also, if the car is idle after the charging is completed, there is a fee if the station is more than 50 percent in use. However, that does not seem to be a hard and fast rule. I guess it varies by area and station. Don't take my word for anything other than what is in quotes.
TSLA's charging stations. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/layoffs-tesla-supercharger-expansion-slows-093000033.html I am assuming that there is a charge for a charge. If that is the case, who in their right mind would buy an EV. Is the power grid going to be on the ropes in 5 years if EV's are widely adopted, not to mention cyber-currency mining and AI? Is anyone in Washington, D.C. planning anything, other than how to raise money for their next election campaign? It is disgusting.
NYBob: Do U think the picture of Trump with Jesus might be blasphemous?
lj: No comment on the Hezbollah pagers? Lots of collateral damage, it seems.
lj: "Blacks have to consider whether they want
to risk seeing their young relatives sent
to war zones under another Dem control
period of four long years..."
Do U think African-Americans have any inkling that this might happen? If U do think that, I have a bridge I want to sell U.
I argue with a liberal friend by texts almost daily. He has a very bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, being brainwashed by the worst of the worst, MSNBC.
I am to the point where my reply to his idiotic statements and memes is simply "Border, border, border".
The price of eggs should help Trump win. They are ridiculously high, worse that before.
lj: Intel, which has a lot of challenges, is a big beneficiary of the Chips Act.
Without that support, U have to wonder whether INTC would be $10 a share.
al44: The "Bee" is milking the latest assassination attempt!
SMCI: That selloff was overdone. When a good company's stock sells off to that extent, suspicion sets in and investors don't want to touch it with a 10-foot-pole (barge pole if you are British.) I'm still kicking myself for not buying MSTR at the halving and selling it for a nice profit when it went back up to $1,800 or better, if my memory serves me correctly.
Will we be smacking our heads if SMCI does the same thing? By the way, the 10:1 split happens on October 1.
al44: That was very amusing!
lj: Agree. This rally seems weak.
al44: An attorney general who would allow the Freaking Bureau of Ineptitude to go after right-to-lifers with SWAT teams at their homes (where they have children), is EVIL. Pure and simple. It was payback after the S.C. overturned Roe v. Wade.
lj: There is a poll out staying that Trump has lost significant support among Hispanic voters.
That rigged debate was a disaster, and whoever advised him to do it might have put Harris in the White House. I have good instincts on matters like this, and I was very much against his doing the debate. They fact checked him but let Harris' lies roll.
GRRR: After reading your analysis of the facts, I might sell all of my shares and consider repurchasing some at tax-loss selling time if an opportunity for a sale during the January effects seems to be presenting itself. Good post.
OT: What I have left that will produce any fruit is one plant with two big tomatoes, one of which I picked green yesterday. That is the entire yield for that plant--two tomatoes.
I have another plant, an Early Girl, that is tardy. It has maybe half a dozen small tomatoes that haven't finished growing, and a lot of blooms. At this time of year, the blooms are for naught, unless we get a very warm October.
I paid $20 for six tomato plants, and will have a loss on my investment! Mentioning this is in a post on GRRR is appropriate.
Early Girl's are determinate. However, I found that if you leave them alone after the first crop and let them grow all summer, if the fall is warm, they will produce a second crop, albeit with a lower yield. The Early Girl mentioned above is producing its first crop.
lj: GRRR Interesting. On another topic, there is another "pop up" storm that is headed for Myrtle Beach. It seems that Central Maryland isn't going to get much rain from the storm that drenched southeast and south-central N.C. today. It is going to go more westerly than originally predicted due to a high-pressure system off the cost of the Mid-Atlantic. And so our lawns are browning in September, which is odd.
al44: Perfect satire. U gotta love the "Bee". I am sending it to libtards.
Here it is: The COVID variant that will arrive just in time for the election. Actually, the article says it is a combo of two variants, which is suspicious, imo. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-13852933/covid-strain-xec-new-cases-coronavirus.html
al44: "All of this should be clear to everyone paying attention, especially now that the World Economic Forum (WEF) admitted that the COVID pandemic was a “test” of our compliance with its desired New World Order." And people are still running out getting COVID booster shots.
What a racket.
Gmenfan: It is ugly, let's face it. Taylor's endorsement could change the outcomes in swing States, as Swifties register to vote, people who before her endorsement had no interest in the election. 18-21 year olds.
lj: As soon as I heard the cat-lady comment, I said "Dump Vance, put Haley on the ticket".
Had they done that, Trump was be unstoppable.
lj: I don't think a gasoline price drop will get people to up their Christmas spending, because if we are not in a recession, we are on the verge of one, imo. But, very low ngas prices are a BIG boon to the economy a few quarters from now because manufacturing costs should decrease.
TRUMP has made an election-losing mistake, imo. According to the Daily Mail, he posted that he "hates Taylor Swift". I think it is fake news. But if true, her fans will come out in droves to vote against Trump. Swift is upset with Vance's cat-lady comments. When I first heard of Vance's stupid statement, I was an advocate of Trump immediately dumping Vance. My neighbor, who is single (divorced) and lost her only child to fentanyl, has cats. She is a big Trump fan, and is very conservative.
Think about it. He insulted single women who are childless due to the death of the child.
Vance is an idiot. Trump is not getting good advice. Vance's job is to deliver the swing States.
Well, now U have to wonder how many Swifties are in those States, who, before Taylor's endorsement of Harris, had zero interest in the election. I think this latest development could be a BIG disaster for the Republicans, not to mention our freedom.
lj: Good recap. The refs were no friends of the Raven's in the season opener in K.C. on the 5th. As a general statement, not specific to the South Carolina game, u have to wonder how many payoffs there are in college football. OT: Saw a guy on a parking lot sporting a t-shirt that read "Roll Tide". I controlled myself and did not say "round the bowl, down the hole."
He looked a little on the weird side. Best not to get a Bama fan riled!
al44: That article was a softball piece, if ever there was one.
NYBob: If Ukraine lobs a long-range missle into Russia, it will be WWWIII. Putin has warned the West.
lj: GE and BLDR
Both of these stocks made moves up this week.
I couldn't take it any longer today, purchasing some shares of BLDR in my IRA.
I should have done that 20 points ago.
So, I end this trading week thinking about two missed opportunities.
lj: There is NO way in the world the U.N. would put troops in Israel. Rep. House Leader Mike Johnson would cut off U.S. funding for the U.N.
