thanks pharminvestor..interesting
my first thought was that this could be google related, since NVideo Shield is smiliar to Chromebooks in the sense that software doesnt run on the device, its streamed to it over a network. Thus my thoughts were Glassware maybe working with google on the server side. But your right, it looks like it may be a direct relationship with nvidia
off course all just speculation... exciting nonetheless :)
that is what I was anticipating...operating effectively as a gaming console...no one can stop use and operation of stand-alone gaming software...
May be something going on with nvidia. In pb's pics on one drive take a look at the 2nd pic after the sphere3d. It's NVIDIA. Coincidence?

News catching on with Chromebooks in schools.......

Buttons for consoles for the tactile addicts, but they can also apply that to touchscreens now. I used to own NEON who has patented multitouch solutions for the next gen touch screens; but even without multitouch I believe the console is just as good as a gadget as a smartphone, just have to have enough power.
Not a gamer, not aware of all the functions console buttons need to do, but wouldn't a BYOD device need more than the standard buttons on a smart phone or tablet to do everything a good console does?
NVIDIA SHIELD is kind of like a chomebook for gaming.
NVDA? That would be sweet!!! The others would have to follow. Hmmm, if we could do this now, what can we do with the small chip they are building????? We can all dream BIG!
been wondering the same thing. Have they got something up their sleeve here.

cloud? google play games?
My take too.
Nvidia.
Who's next?
(GOOG)
My interpretation is quite different:
I think what he really meant is that once Glassware 2.0 is uploaded on the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet this tablet's function is largely expanded and able to run apps which were written in any type of software to run on other BYOD hardwares with any type of OS.
Consequently NVIDIA SHIELD may be offered as a gaming console with much higher capabilities at a very attractive price.
Did PB lift the veil here and are we getting an announcement about a cooperation between Sphere 3D and Nvidia?
It seems like out of the two big ones, this is the one to be in right now... I am liking ANY more and more.
I can imagine gaming companies like Nintendo or Wii wouldn't take it without a big fight.
seem to have some MEAT to it!
That's how I understood it but I'd like to hear it confirmed . Viking - do you think this would bring up patent issues or law suits ?
I take it to mean: can you believe GW can display (on your own device) what this console displays? b/c if they can virtualize the game you can play it on any PC or laptop without having to buy the expensive console. Or do I get it wrong?
I notice in the Briforum presentation they show Sphere presenting with FSLogic. Are we connected to them in some way and there will be one joint presentation or does it mean there will be 2 presentations, one by Sphere and one by FSL?
What do you think he meant by : "Can you believe GW can display on this controller?" Did he mean to say, "Can you believe what GW can do on this controller display?" Or is the display showing something I'm not getting? Any idea?
Seems like another large market to me.
Nice, he has a Windows Phone
Hoping to find out more about the gaming issue.

thanks. So V3 already has LWL's ProfileUnity FlexApp built into its appliances for a year now. No wonder PB is well connected with Michael Keen and Chris Ackerberg, LWL's COO.
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (July 29, 2013) – V3 Systems, the leader in cloud-delivered virtual desktop computing, today announced it will bundle Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity FlexApp with certain V3 purpose-built virtual desktop server appliances. ProfileUnity FlexApp is quickly becoming the usermanagement solution of choice for Windows desktops. The solution offers a universally compatible user profile that spans Windows XP to Windows 8 desktops for greatest applicability to customer environments. FlexApp supports application virtualization without isolating or encapsulating the application. Instead, by virtualizing the installation of applications, FlexApp bypasses the limitations of isolation. FlexApp applications “look” native to the Windows OS and to other applications; therefore it can support many applications that could not otherwise be virtualized.

CEO interview on BNN:
http://www.midasletter.com/2014/07/sphere-3d-corp-nasdaqany-ceo-peter-tassiopoulos-bnn/
I think Peter was spot on here :
Catherine Murray: Peter when you look at your stock and your stock price, and you look at the valuation – the way the stock has run – and then you look at the fundamentals and then where revenue and profit is. Does that make sense to you?
Peter Tassiopoulos: Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, people sometimes forget that in our industry, the multiples are derived not just from the revenue and definitely not from trailing revenue perspective, but how valuable are you to a solution. When VMware acquired Airwatch at 20 times forward earnings – $1.5 billion for $70 million – what they acquired was their mobile device management software, not their revenue. When we go into an application scenario where somebody needs to move the last 20 or 30 percent or the entire program goes off the rails, we’re worth more than just that 20 or 30 percent.
Good find v86.
"Education, health care and federal agencies"..... Where have we heard that before?

looks like Michael Keen will be indeed instrumental in landing new partnerships with strategic players to make ANY a one-stop shop for virtualization solutions. One of the first may likely be LiquidwareLabs (LWL) who seems to be a VDI powerhouse. Here is an interesting interview with a LWL executive that clearly shows what LWL does. I found this excerpt particularly interesting re. the verticals that Sphere 3D tries to get into:
the person who wrote the tweet: <and looking forward to a great partnership with @LiquidwareLabs> is the President and COO of LiquidwareLabs !

RT @rspiratla: @pbookman @guilhemdemilly is Michael Joining Bri forum >He is not this time... :)
can somebody tweet that question to PB or whoever wrote : <and looking forward to a great partnership with @LiquidwareLabs> ?
After all, LLabs would make a BIG partner for ANY but what does it have to do with Michael Keen?
I have no idea but have a feeling Mr Keen will help us land many new contracts and partnerships! He is a guru in this field, a great hire!!
Keen to be in Boston this week???
Anyone know. High impact introduction.
nice. What is Michael Keen's role in the partnership with LiquidwareLabs?
How many more partnerships will Michael Keen bring to the dance? We are witnessing a management team with a plan, working it to perfection right now imo!
RT @ChrisAkerberg: @michael_keen @sphere3d Congrats Michael ! >... and looking forward to a great partnership with @LiquidwareLabs :)

Make it G's ear....lol
From your mouth to Gods ear:O)
In the recent BNN interview, PT pointed out that Facebook paid a headturning price (19B) for Whatsapp not so much due to its current revenue (translate: market cap) but much more due to expectations of its future revenue . Whatsapp has currently a 2013 rev of only $20m (!) and an expected FY 2014 rev of $144m based on data compiled by Sterne Agee:
http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-some-realistic-revenue-numbers-for-whatsapp-2014-2
so the B/S (Buyout price/Sales) would be an astronomical 950 based on 2013 and 132 based on expected 2014 sales revenue. But due to Whatsapp's expected continuing rapid growth of its user base, that ratio is expected to be 16 in 2017 and 8 in 2019. While Sphere 3D is not directly comparable to Whatsapp, this just shows that assuming a B/S ratio for 20 (as I did previously) based on ACTUAL revenue is really not that unrealistic for fast growing young companies in the Internet/Cloud Computing sector as we expect ANY will be in coming years.

OVRL enabled GSA contracts could bring in $25-50m a pop.
Pop pop pop pop.
The pathway to multi $Billion market cap.
Impressive. Thanks for the highlights.
Thank you and that is interesting.
Great post JB! Is there anyone out there with doubts about Glassware 2.0 now?
