There is one thing that I think is coming into play that is keeping the contracts from rolling in, and also a reason that this technology could become a new standard in non-destructive testing.

This is: that this process is so good at what it does, the companies that would be contracted to do the repair work and the regulating agencies that have to do the pay-out for work done might feel that this would find too many non-conformities to make the job financially feasable.

Current technologies include Dye Penetration tests and Electro-Magnetic testing that are not nearly as precise as this.

So what I am saying, the government agency in charge of this work would have to make specifications that REQUIRE the level of precision that only this product can deliver. Then and only then, will this become a mandated spec (maybe a Gov. regulation) in the contracts. Otherwise they would try to slide by with the cheapest avenue to fix the problem.

I am very familiar with conformance to contracts in this industry and everyone is trying to get the job done for the cheapest cost. They don't do something like this unless they are forced to.

Maybe this is all we are going to get out of this PR, but I have worked in the shipbuilding and steel industry for some 25+ years and this technology could easily become the new standard in non-destructive testing for so many industries that this could be absolutely humongus in the future. How soon is anybodies guess, but I have been keeping my eye on this for about 4 months now and it's nice that they finally got a first contract. I think that there will be many more that will take this to much higher levels.

Interesting maybe he can get them contracts.Noticed that insiders own a good % of the shares so thats good.The problem I currently see is the lack of funds, huge accumulated debt and lots of dilution.Now once contracts are in place, I think the Company is really going to need financing and although seems like a unique technology the long long haul for the share price may not be in the cards.I think its a much better short term momo type play.

(OTC BB:MTNA.OB - News) ("MATECH") today announced that it has come to an agreement with engineering consulting firm, Sam Schwartz PLLC (SSC), whose president and CEO is the former New York City Traffic Commissioner Sam Schwartz. SSC will be providing field operations for MATECH in the northeast during the final development stage of the Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) as a fatigue crack detection and analysis tool for steel bridges. Mr. Schwartz, a.k.a. Gridlock Sam, coined the term "Gridlock" during the Koch administration when the infrastructure of NYC was crumbling before his eyes. "I wish I had a tool like the EFS when I was dealing with the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. There were literally thousands of cracks we had to contend with and limited funding," Mr. Schwartz recalls. Sam went on to say that having a tool to determine whether a fatigue crack was growing or not would be priceless as a repair fund prioritization tool.


The EFS is a technology which detects metal fatigue and aids in determining the integrity of a structure. In laboratory tests, the Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) demonstrated its ability to find smaller cracks in metal bridges than any other nondestructive test method and was utilized in Bridge Beta tests last year in Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, and New York to detect active fatigue cracks in the bridge superstructures.

"To put it simply, it is the most technologically advanced product of its kind," said Robert M. Bernstein, MATECH's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Sam Schwartz PLLC (SSC) employees 60 engineers and transportation experts and is headquartered in New York City with offices in New Jersey and Canada. The tentative agreement would involve engineers from SSC augmenting conventional bridge inspections with the EFS analysis on steel bridges in the Northeast United States from Virginia to Massachusetts.

The EFS is the only nondestructive testing technology that can find growing cracks in metals, and cracks below the surface, as small as 0.010 inches. This critical information will allow engineers to fix the specific problems in most need of repair, and also verify that repairs are effective in halting further fatigue crack growth, by determining that previously found fatigue cracks are no longer growing.
