Coastal Integrated Services Inc. (COLV) is targeting the multi-billion dollar disposable beverage sector with the application of the unique technology and innovation developed by its wholly owned subsidiary Simply Lids, Inc. The company's specialty is disposable beverage lids in the food services industry.

Simply Lids' patented technologies provide a safer, more enjoyable drinking experience, without splashing or spills. The company's product designs also enable the added benefit of unique marketing opportunities that have never been realized in this industry sector.

The current standards for beverages are either a flimsy lid that requires the user to tear a pie-shaped mouth hole, or a tiny hole that you have to suck the liquid out like a child’s sippy cup. Both these options are frustrating and unsafe. The refreshingly improved design and customization options offered by Simply Lids allows users to enjoy their beverages like there is no lid at all while keeping liquid from splashing out.

The lids are aimed at a $20 billion dollar opportunity in the food services industry. The use of a new more environmentally friendly plastic with a lower carbon footprint also ensures that Simply Lids / COLV works toward a more sustainable product for future generations.

The Lids

A stroke of genius resulting from a frustrating, flimsy coffee lid at an Orange County convenience store in the 1980s led to the development of Simply Lids. The unsafe hot beverage lids that challenge you to tear a pie-shaped mouth hole had been the norm for too long – Simply Lids was the solution.

Simply Lids are an improvement on conventional disposable lids because of a larger hole positioned vertically at the base of a liquid reservoir. Liquid flows more freely, and the vertical orientation of the hole keeps it from splashing out. The lids provide a drinking experience equal to drinking a beverage with no lid at all.

Simply Lids has been enthusiastically received by many coffee sellers because of these refreshingly improved design and customization options.

The lids are designed with two things in mind: the customer and the environment. Simply Lids were created with logic to provide the ultimate drinking experience with no messy spills or splash and none of the guilt from piling plastic lids in the landfill. Sustainable and recyclable, Simply Lids use less plastic and have a lower carbon footprint than other lids on the market.

It is time to enjoy beverages in a straight-from-cup experience.

The Simply Slider™

The versatile Simply Slider™ makes the lid truly unique. When closed, it keeps any liquid from splashing out of the drinking hole and air holes. This also helps the cup insulate hot or cold beverages.

Awards & Recognition

Simply Lids is rapidly making its mark on the beverage industry, earning recognition for product innovation, design and trend.

  • Winner of the innovative new product award at the Seattle Coffee Fest Show.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Trend Hunter, which indicates placement in the Top 20 trends for 2014.
Nominated for the prestigious Edison Award, which recognizes honor innovation and excellence in the development, marketing and launch of new products and services.

Branding & Marketing Opportunities

Aside from making a more enjoyable drinking experience, the 2015 Simply Lid featuring the Simply Slider is prime marketing real estate for any company.

The Simply Slider helps insulate beverages, both hot and cold, but is an essential part of the 2015 Simply Lid’s splash proof design. It also provides companies an opportunity to put their brand on the lid, which is ideal for not only beverage companies that use thousands of lids everyday on their consumable products, but to sporting complexes, airlines, or any company who serves their customers or clients a beverage.

Simply Sliders are a game-changer in the disposable lid arena. The product is the only marketing device that assures a captive audience and can accurately calculate the number of impressions for each customer.

Application of the Simply Slider is endless – from souvenirs, sport and concert collectables, to cross promotions, realtors, coupons and more. What’s more is that the Simply Slider can be easily removed, and is pocket friendly. Customer innovation is a strong catalyst for marketing and advertising opportunities. One Simply Slider customer even suggested having their favorite musical artist on it and be a collector pick for a guitar.

U.S. Cups and Lids Market

Demand in the cups and lids segment of the U.S. market is forecast to hit $10 billion in 2018, according to a Freedonia report at Demand is driven by the role of beverages as revenue generators in the restaurant business, as well as changing consumer trends away from carbonated soft drinks and toward specialty beverages.

The same report shows that while drinking cups will continue to dominate the market, the fastest gains are in the packaging cup segment due to convenience, portability and portion control. Within this segment, environmentally friendly products take the winning lead. Recyclable paper cups and plastic cups are overtaking foam cups due to environmental concerns.

Lid demand, however, will outpace cup demand due to rapidly growing food and beverage sales from carry-out and retail stores and beverages purchased for offside consumption; rising demand for specialty lids; and increases for single serving packaging cups, which typically have some type of lid or flexible lidding.

The broader foodservice market represented 67% of demand in 2013 and is projected to remain the largest cup and lid market. Key drivers in this market are specialty beverage offerings in quick-service and restaurants; the growing presence of fountain drink dispensers; consumption trends for products commonly packaged in cups, such as yogurt, snack foods, coffee and tea in single-cup brewing systems.
