It's a pheasant. This one was apparently an escapee from a game farm in the area. He adopted me when I moved into the neighborhood because I had cockatiels and could speak bird language. I was also a gardener and I dug up all sorts of yummy stuff for him to eat.

Sadly, he was attacked and murdered by a nasty cat that was allowed to roam free in the neighborhood.
