We could make "new window" the default. In fact, I should have done that and will do so.
The answer to your question is "yes" and the instructions are now on the iBox Editor page if you scroll down.
Always glad to help.
Phil
I didn't know that. Thanks, Phil.
(It's the first time it's happened to me.)
When you get an error message like that, you can usally hit the back button and send it again and you don't have to retype the message.
Phil
It did work the second time. Don't know where the first PM went though...it's prolly floating around in cyberspace somewhere.
Thanks, Dan.
Did you try it again or just once?
I've seen similar occasionally but it usually works the second time.
Dunno what happened here, Dan...tried to send a PM and received this...
Microsoft SQL Native Client error '80040e10'
No value given for one or more required parameters.

Len,
I always hold the CTRL button when I click a link to make sure it opens in a new tab.
Doing that works fine on those 3 links on Mike's board.
Dan.
Mike:
Sure enough. Only the second one opened a new window if I click the links like normal.
I was mistaken about Maxthon. I have it set to open in the same window if I double click a link like normal. However, if I click on it, hold down and then ever-so-slightly drag it (all this is a split second), the link opens a new tab. By doing that, I was able to open all three of your links to a new tab.
Nevertheless, I understand what you are saying now. Thanks for the information.... and I agree.... The NEW tab should be the default.
Len
I added a press release section to the FMMH iBox to demonstrate this. The iBox is located here:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=6054
The three press releases each have different target settings. The first one is set to "not set," the second one is set to "New Window," and the third one is set to "Same Window."
With IE only the second link opens up in a new window.
Mike
Mike:
So, does that mean there is a link that you can steer me to where when I click it, it won't open a new tab for me? I'd like to see.
Len
>Every link I go to in any Ibox creates a new tab.<
The FCK editor allows the iBox designer to specify that the target of a link be assigned: a) a new window; b) the same window; or c) unspecified action (i.e. use browser default).
Tabbing is currently determined only by the browser’s own preferences; however, I think I read on this board that the FCK editor will be upgraded to support explicit tabbing actions for iBox links.
No, there is a setting for this when you create a link in the new iBox editor. If you edit a link and go to the Target tab you will see that there are three choices for the link target. The choices are not set, New Window, and Same Window. I want that default changed. With the old editor if you put in a link it always went to a new window.
It could be that a browser setting takes over if "not set" is selected.
Mike
Mike:
Assuming I understand your question correctly, I believe that is a function of your browser. I have Maxthon and have it set so that anytime I open a link, it automatically opens a new tab (window) rather than changing the existing window I'm on.
Maybe IHub has something to do with it, but nothing works differently for me. Every link I go to in any Ibox creates a new tab.
Len
Is there any way in the new editor that you can make the target for a new link to be a new window by default? That is the way that iHub works for good reason. Unfortunately, it seems that the default for the editor is to open the link in the current window. I suspect that if the default isn't changed that many iBoxes will have links that open in the current window which I don't think is desirable.
Mike
People have been requesting the ability to sort favorites in folders, but I can't imagine now those giant tabs would help that happen.
Phil
It's a work in progress, perfection is on it's way.
The only clickable part are the words. I think most clickable things are like that but usually the box is sized to fit.
My first thought was that they will be adding more boxes but I can't imagine what they will be for
If I hover the cursor I am ok, it just is when I look at it without putting the cursor there
I can see what it says, but why have a box so big when only a little tiny bit of it is an active link?
Even when you move the cursor to the center of the box?
It could be because of my colors but whichever one of the favorites that you are on the dark blue color in the box makes it unable to see what it says in the box.
John,
The new boxes for the favorites are huge, but you have to be right in the center of them for the links to work.
Do they have to be that big?
Phil
I don't have a good answer for that. Seems to be a fotothing rule.
Maybe John or Dave will answer you soon.
I was just trying to offer a workaround.
Phil
> Why don't you just download them to your computer, convert them to JPG format, and then upload them to Ihubs servers?<
Converting from PNG to JPG causes some loss of image quality.
In any case, I wasn’t asking for a workaround—I was simply curious why PNG’s can’t be uploaded.
Let’s talk biotech!
“The efficient-market hypothesis may be
the foremost piece of B.S. ever promulgated
in any area of human knowledge!”
Why don't you just download them to your computer, convert them to JPG format, and then upload them to Ihubs servers?
Or simply use the [ chart ] commands?
Phil
Question: Why is it that iHub can display image files in PNG format but PNG files can’t be uploaded to iHub’s storage area on fotothing.com? T.i.a.
The Top Boards button is broken.
Try going into beta and see if you can hear them.
I have most Iboxes closed anyway, so I almost never hear any sounds.
BTW, for people that are having trouble hiding Iboxes, the bottom toolbar usually works when you get an error message on the top toolbar.
Phil
I am a private board....I like music as do most that are on it...If I delete the icon will that delete the entire ibox? All I see to edit is that icon....
I'm not in BETA & I hear them - DAVE said it would be fixed in the next update
Didn't use to be.
We had a discussion about it recently though.
I think you could hear the Ibox imbedded sounds in beta, or 2.0 but not both.
Check that out.
Phil
here to DAVE or MEATHEAD
Where do I post this stuff that I get way too often, when I click on X Unread on my favorites page?
Edit: Reposting to Dave or Meathead
iBoxes are above the law...
I wonder though, when you have embedded sounds turned off, why they are not turned off sightwide.
It seems we discussed this awhile back.
Phil
instead of having that ignored on this board, plz post that to MATT so it can get ignored on THIS board - http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=8689
I sure would like quotes to show up for IDMC.
That'll be fixed as of the next code update.
yeah but you can turn those off - I have embedded sounds turned off but if I go to a board that has an iBox opened (ie for the first time) and it has a sound file, that plays. The only way to avoid it is to close the iBox.
I don't think sound files should be allowed in posts either, but it's not my sandbox.
Phil
Aside, while we are continuing to allow the ability to embed music for now, our general view is that its annoyance factor far outweighs and any possible benefit.
It is VERY annoying & has no benefit...whatsoever...this is a stock site - how can sound in an iBox be of ANY benefit?
Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them.
I believe all you need to do is delete that icon that shows up in place of the musing link (looks like a puzzle piece) and then add the [ sound] tags.

From what I understand, admin doesn't want you to put music in the Iboxes.
But they can take out the old link for you.
Just post the link to the board.
Phil
how do I get my old edit format for this new Ibox edit thing..I wanted to change the music but I can't take out the old string!

Known Issues
Service Unavailable message - That's usually us restarting the webserver after a software update. We believe we have eliminated the causes for the unexpected outages. If you still experience the "Service Unavailable" at times other than when we have a site-message announcing one, please report it on this board.
Favorite Boards and People going to the wrong page - Sometimes clicking on the number of Unread Posts will take you to a post on the wrong board. If anyone is still experiencing this please report it here.
Favorite People - Free Users are getting a "You must subscribe" message when clicking new post counts. This wasn't really a bug - Free Members did not have a clickable link there before. We have temporarily made the "batch read new posts" available to Free Members.
Different page "formats" - Some pages like MailBox, the Moderator screens, and the pages for composing and posting messages have not been converted to the new format yet. They will be converted over the next several weeks.
Advanced Search - June 08, 2008 After one completes an advanced search that generates multiple screens of output, the next advanced search (e.g. by changing the year and leaving the other parameters unchanged) starts on whatever ordinal-numbered screen was last examined on the old search rather than resetting to the first screen of output for the new search. Pending investigation and resolution.
Error when creating folders - June 08, 2008 User received error when creating their 256th folder for filing posts. This is a system limitation, not an interface error. We will look at increasing the limitation.
Short list of posts on board.aspx - This occurs when there are deleted or filtered posts. Under investigation. Example: #board-5506
Wrong Favorites tab after marking Last Read The redirect is not honoring the user config selection. Under review.
iBox Editor - Requests to enable the following tools: Fonts: size, typeface, and color., target specification on links. Status: Under review. Comment: Link Target specification (new tab or same tab) will be implemented on the next code update.
Helpful Hints
Helpful Hint #1 - Font Sizes - Any registered Member can adjust the font size on grid pages (Favorites, Boards, Hot Lists, etc.) and the font size of posts text by going to Tools >>> My Interface.
Helpful Hint #2 - Font weights - Do the fonts look thin or washed out to you? Please refer to: http://ihwiki.stocksite.com/index.php?title=ClearType
Helpful Hint #3 - Underlines in column headings What's that about, you ask? Click one. Click it again. It sorts the grid based on the values in that column, and the 2nd click reverses the sort order.
That's all for now...
