The NP-1 STREAMS 4K. NTEK apparently acted in an OEM capacity to deliver UPSCALING-ability with their Nuvola NP-S1 product for example (which I believe Seiki commissioned them to design & build).
What's more the Nuvola NP-1 has reported, via HEVC delivery, been able to deliver 4K Streaming at the lower bitrates; namely, as low as ~3Mbps.
Previous to the adoption of HEVC, NTEK was claiming sub-10Mbps & near lossless 4K Streaming at 6Mbps (this was prior to the nVidia Tegra 4 Chip) & PRIOR to HEVC adoption (which was a VERY RECENT development).
That quote only addresses Netflix and Amazon as they currently exist. They don't offer 4k streaming so it obviously won't send 4k to the NP-1. Therefore the NP-1 will only upscale the movies sent to it from Netflix and Amazon unless they start offering 4k streaming. This is what the Wednesday rumor for Amazon is all about! Have to wait till then to find out. The NP-1 currently only streams in 4k the movies from UltraFlix.
