If the machines can use their own output for htf, why is the company spending close to a buck a gallon to buy it?

A keen observation on your part with significant cost implications.

As a matter of fact, a few months ago that was one of the subjects of several emails and conversations I had with IR. I have been unable to confirm the feasibility of producing an in house HTF but I see no reason that could not occur and further decrease costs.
