Thank for the link, the rejection of McArthur river must have contributed today zinc's strength.
I made a mistake in my previous posting. Aljustrel's output is about "168,000 t of zinc concentrate at a grade of 50% zinc", which comes to 84,000 ton/year, about half of McArthur. Aljustrel will not make top ten zinc mine, but would be the No. 2 of the new zinc mine list by Teck Cominco. It is a pity that Teck Cominco didn't list it, maybe because it is an old mine?
datruthjack, to answer your question, Aljustrel projected mine life is 10 years, but I will not be surprised if it got extended.
Unfortunately a mine like Aljustrel may have negative impact to worldwide zinc price, just opposite to McArthur River did today.
