In the short term, that might happen…
At this point, JCP seems to be languishing looking for a catalyst. However, once a catalyst appears, it will probably behave like a binary event. Rapid swings up (and possibly down… I'm realistic).
My investment thesis is that everyone is over-estimating the risks and underestimating the rapidity of the turnaround given the solid management and the solid Q4 results from 2013.
I'm expecting the 2014 Q1 results to be solid with potential surprise to the upside followed a few more quarters of solid performance.. which will put any liquidity issues behind it.
Thus, my horizon is 1.5 - 2 years minimum for the thesis to play out and whatever happens now is just noise (and possible ways to lower my cost-basis… if it were to go back to $5.00).
