They would only come into play during a merger or acquisition so yes as I understand it they won't be traded on the open market.

Yes, nearly all the "increased" shares are held in the company treasury and are NOT being traded. Hence the reason that this really is NOT a big deal. Actually it IS in the fact that the debt has now been reduced 80% AND the company has shares to use for merger.

Yes. It's part of the treasury, but not cancelled out of the float entirely, however isn't going to be something that's traded.
