Even with L2 you have no idea how fat or thin the ask is. Have you never seen someone put 10,000 on the ask (but actually have a ton of shares)? Or, what about conditional orders, whereby one sale triggers the next? Folks here bought cheap shares, and now they are selling them. If the company does well, then buying those shares could well pay off. Speculating about the unknown number of shares on the ask is pointless IMHO.
