Sure. It is just a table entry. If planned for, it could be a laser link that is cut, so it wouldn't require anything special. Or it might be that the BIOS just programs the chip that way. AMD did something similar with the ES K7's, or at least that was one explanation for why those samples performed so poorly compared to the products that shipped. Of course, it might have been those chips were just buggy.
