Unfortunately, from my pov, I don't see where the article addresses
the ELEPHANT in the room; namely, not just HDMI 2.0 being "out",
or available, but when it is EXPECTED to be "in silica"?

I haven't found ANY complete & succinct explanation as to when
that will be. Perhaps that is why it was NOT included in the
article. Everyone is being left then with the only option for now,
using firmware to accommodate the available upgrade (as I understand
it). NOTE that NTEK has HDMI listed on their packaging below:

One can see for themselves that NTEK has the latest HEVC noted
there as well, which IR confirms NTEK completed post packaging
design (& why 6Mbps is listed as opposed to ~3Mbps).

Lastly, a conversation with NTEK regarding Las Vegas R&D seems
to intimate NTEK working on a MUCH-IMPROVED display-panel that
can display content superior to what currently exists. Superior
in EVERY WAY that is SIGNIFICANT to 4K's current issues & one of
it's LARGEST POTENTIAL DRIVING MARKETS!!!
