That's some kind of growth! 5 -> 50 -> 100 -> 200

"Rambus, a global leader in highspeed interface technology and advanced circuit designs, is ramping up its operations in India and aimed at emerging 100 strong by this year end.

''Our target is to double the strength to 200 in 2007 and cross 500 by the end of the decade,'' Rambus Chief Executive Officer Harold Hughes told UNI in an interview.

Mr Hughes, who was here to review the first year operations of Rambus which began with a headcount of mere five, said the company had over 50 engineers now."

Rambus isn't the only conpany that sees India as a hot spot. India is seeing a high-tech explosion.

Chip-maker AMD sees Indian growth doubling in 2006

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc., the world's second-largest chip maker, said on Monday it expects India to be its fastest-growing Asian market, and aims to double its growth there during 2006.


Henri Richard, executive vice president of the California-based firm, said China represented a bigger market for the company, but he saw its highest growth coming in India for both its value and premium chips.

"At this point we have no plans for direct investment in manufacturing in India ... our main objective is to grow at twice the industry rate in India," Richard told reporters.
