thanks I do want to switch. one reason is to have the ability to do advanced orders(stop loss, stop on price, etc.. )
But the margin account is what I want, because of its benefits in not having to wait for funds to clear ( there are rules on how many you can do in a week without having issues)

So I need $2000 to open or $1000?

Good info haberbashery. Thanks for clarifying that it is 2k to open but no minimum to take advantage of the no settlement period.
