Austin: I'm sure that there are too many to mention, however I haven't asked what all they are. One I know for sure is that he is a visionary who can look far into the future and see the outcome of decisions that are made today, where others would be more myopic, and be more likely to focus on the short term tasks and results. Chess players, or software programers would be good examples of those who can see many steps ahead in planning out moves.
Other than that, whether he would help with industry contacts, marketing ideas, specific product development, etc., etc., etc., I don't know. What I do know is that NV wants to hire many people to fill a number of roles as soon as the money is available. There are highly rated people now who keep asking when they can come to work for NV. In the mean time, having them on the advisory board, is a great way to tap their abilities without having to pay cash.
