#61381 RE: Veblen #61377

Keep in mind that JJ and family own a significant percentage of MDMN (I'm approximating >40%). His interests are directly aligned with MDMN's. As such, awarding a 30% interest in Madre de Dios to MDMN, is a win/win for him as a 70% owner in Madre de Dios and a significant owner in shareholder in MDMN.

I do not know JJ's motivations, but I don't believe any principal entrusted with landing MDMN a joint venture for close to 10 years now wouldn't feel somewhat guilty/responsible/remorseful for not closing a deal to date. While also having the embarrassment of two very public failed deals that have acutely affected the very shareholders who entrusted him with that goal. I believe it is an altruistic move on his part, with a certain degree of self-serving motives, though not suspicious or nefarious as perhaps others might wish to read into.
