Highlights
Employee costs, up 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter for a plus 2.0 percent year-on-year rate, remain subdued and in line with other readings on inflation. Wages & salaries, reflecting year-end bonuses, did rise a noticeable 0.6 percent in the quarter, though the year-on-year rate, at plus 1.9 percent, remains modest. Benefits also rose 0.6 percent in the quarter, down from 0.7 percent in the prior quarter, with the year-on-year rate at plus 2.2 percent.
