What this article is saying is the current web standard doesn't support hyperlinking, but they'd like to support it in the future. If a year from now, browser manufacturers start supporting it, it would take 3-5 years for most people to have the new browser.

For example, 12% of the market still has IE 7 and IE 8 even though they are up to IE 10.

This article is really bullish, as it is identifying the deficiencies with current browsers that we already solve today.

So there you have it folks, the ultimate solution is here NOW. If the browser manufacturer is in the back log then, now that Clipstream has arrived, no excuses now for adaptation, more chances that this could be our ticket to become a standard format .... Caaacccchhinngg!!!!
