Sounds more like you are the desperate one, suddenly realizing that Intel has 3 step functions worth of performance coming over the next 12 months, and AMD has diddily-squat.

Actually it's perspiration that you are witnessing from the AMD'ers. Desperation was the lawsuit.

Don't forget that Intel is launching a 65nm demo using NGA which is quite manufacturable. AMD would have to launch a 90nm demo that needs to be productized in 65 nm one year away. They used to argue that a 90nm demo was OK in light of the fact that Intel had no QC until 2007 while AMD has one in '06. They can't do that anymore b/c a 90nm QC would never compete with a 65nm QC NGA and it certainly couldn't compete with Intel on price. No one ever thought that AMD could make any money on it anyway.

I don't think this is so much of a PR stunt on Intel's part, although it doesn't hurt. If you look at all the announcements coming from Intel on NGA parts, it seems clear that the schedules have been pulled way in. Also, they said that the 65nm ramp is the fastest in history. I think we are seeing those results.
