Windsor-Essex’s footprint in the medical marijuana industry grew a little larger Tuesday, with a major investment from CEN Biotech.

The WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, in correlation with Cen Biotech announced a $12 million investment to grow the medical marijuana industry in Lakeshore.

“The review of policies governing the control of medical use of doctor prescribed marijuana created an opportunity for us to use our skills and expertise to create a highly controlled environment for this medical application,” said CEN Biotech president, Bill Chaaban. “I am very pleased to announce today, the beginning of CEN Biotech in Windsor-Essex”.

The announcement adds to the already growing presence of medical marijuana facilities in Windsor-Essex.
