#126564 RE: herb will #126563

It is impressive in units and Chromebooks use Intel processors so I guess that's a win for Intel. I guess that I don't normally hang out with the crowd that buys these devices. Most of the people that I know have Macs, Lenovos, Dells and HPs notebooks.

I went shopping this afternoon with my wife and daughter. I was at the food court working on a Microsoft Word document on my Dell XPS M1330 laptop. The food court didn't have WiFi and I do prefer using Microsoft Office when working on certain kinds of documents. I also do Mac development from time to time so a Mac system is a must-have for me.

I've looked at a lot of job postings over the years and knowledge of Microsoft Office is a typical requirement of a wide range of office jobs - it seems to be a standard in the business world. That's an argument for Windows or Mac OS X (running Windows in a VM). I looked into whether or not a Chromebook can run Windows VMs and the answer seems to be no on that. It will be interesting to see whether or not college students will graduate to Windows laptops from Chromebooks.
