I closed out some Gold in Jan. too, still got some, have no idea where it will end. Like you say unreal returns.
I guess because oil's down & good report coming out tomorow.

According to this link ... http://tinyurl.com/95f3r ("Historic Monthly Stock Price Performance"), February is a bullish month for NEM (a gold stock) and bearish month for IBM (a tech stock). See graphs below.

So, as far as ETF's go ... maybe this month (February), one should be long GLD and short QQQQ. (Unfortunately, this link won't display similar info for ETFs like GLD & QQQQ)
