Once, you don't have to justify to me what you are doing. I'm not part of the list. My off-hand opinion, not being part of the original list creation, is pretty simple. If everybody was cross-sending e-mails, then it would be apparent that everyone had that understanding. Since you seem to be the only one, then it would seem that all (most?) expected that there would not be cross-sending.
Therefore, IMO, you have a responsibility to protect the confidentiality of the existing list, and probably should destroy it. Since that seems an impossible task for you, then as an alternative, you could find out if those on the list would like to be on your list. You seem determined to not let this happen. I could only guess that is because you fear few, if any, would sign up, and you feel compelled to express your opinion whether others wish to hear it or not.
It is clear enough to me what you have done--now it is up to you to do the right thing. I hope you do. It would seem you have beaten a dead horse and are now dragging it around the corral.
In any case, I'm not on the list, am not involved with the stock, and have given you my opinion which you can choose to accept or reject.
