0nce, what's your problem with having an opt-in list? Or better yet, offering on the IDCC thread to create a mailing list for those so interested? By creating your own list, you surely avoid any appearance of impropriety, and using an opt-in, for your existing list, at least let's people know you are trying to do the right thing.
You ever get e-mail from spammers and you have no idea how they got your address, but they put in some disclaimer like "If you have received this in error, respond to xyz". Well, I don't know about you, but I won't respond because I don't want to validate their mailing.
For yourself, wouldn't you prefer to opt-in than to opt-out? Can't see what your problem is in allowing people a choice, and so you can extricate yourself from this mess. Geez, look how much time and garbage was posted OFF-TOPIC on the iHub Q&A thread today.
