0nce, what's your problem with having an opt-in list? Or better yet, offering on the IDCC thread to create a mailing list for those so interested? By creating your own list, you surely avoid any appearance of impropriety, and using an opt-in, for your existing list, at least let's people know you are trying to do the right thing.

You ever get e-mail from spammers and you have no idea how they got your address, but they put in some disclaimer like "If you have received this in error, respond to xyz". Well, I don't know about you, but I won't respond because I don't want to validate their mailing.

For yourself, wouldn't you prefer to opt-in than to opt-out? Can't see what your problem is in allowing people a choice, and so you can extricate yourself from this mess. Geez, look how much time and garbage was posted OFF-TOPIC on the iHub Q&A thread today.

It's not a matter of someone being harmed - it's a matter of privacy.

People simply don't like SPAM, just like people don't like telemarketers. With you it's even worse, because I'm sure a lot of the people you sent e-mail to have you on ignore, which obviously means they don't want anything to do with you.

By the way, since you're into correcting people's grammar, what does "than so be it" mean? :P
